Introducing the way to share your child's first moments with distant friends and family.
|
Lompoc Healthcare District Obstetrics is proud to introduce BabyCam. Taking advantage of the information age, we invite you to experience this video sharing tool that allows you to show off your newborn to distant family and friends at no cost to you. What’s the catch? There is none!
BabyCam allows distant viewers the ability to see your newborn over the Internet. Distant viewers need Internet access and a separate phone line (or cell phone) to see the newborn. By arranging a visit relatives or friends can experience a secure visit through the Internet on their Internet connected personal computer from anywhere in the world. Distant viewers will see everyone at the hospital that chooses to sit in front of the camera in near real time video. You will not be able to see the distant viewers, but will hear their voice using the patient room telephone.
Your privacy is important to us
By arrangement, and after signing the privacy agreement, you will be given a SECURE USERCODE & PASSWORD that you will give to the distant viewer. Using the USERCODE distant viewers will establish a secure private connection right to your patient room.
Yes, that simple!
What do you
need to do?
First, talk to your nurse about a BabyCam visit or call 805-737-3395. After signing the privacy agreement you will be given a USERCODE & PASSWORD. The new mom or family will notify the distant viewer of the USERCODE & PASSWORD, the prearranged time, and the website, all of which are clearly defined on the privacy agreement.
Instructions for Distant Viewers
Click Here and enter in your USERCODE & PASSWORD, accept the provided Plug-ins, and a video window will pop up. To establish your audio connection, call the hospital at 805-737-3300 and ask to be connected to the new mom’s patient room. If you’re using a dial-up connection for your computer, you will need to use another phone line or cell phone.
Technical Area
Broadband or DSL Internet connectivity is best for viewing the BabyCam, but 56K will work in a degraded mode.
Viewers will need Internet Explorer 5.0 or newer with Java enabled (Java is default enabled). Internet technology for voice is possible but not reliable for this type of use. Therefore distant callers can use regular voice lines or cell phones for a clearer quality audio portion of the session.
Upon first time use, family viewers will be required to accept video Plug-ins that allow the video to work on their personal computers. These are common Plug-ins and are tested safe by Lompoc Healthcare District.
